About this boat

Roomy aft deck and flybridge
We believe we are the 4th owners.  Herb, who sold us the boat, owned her for 10 years and cruised actively.  Herb bought the boat from a friend in Maine who owned her for about ten years and cruised.  The first owner is more fuzzy.  We think he did little with the boat and kept her inside a barn most of the time.

She is one of a line of boats marketed by Present Yachts which was in business in the 80's.  Gordon Present was a car dealer in Rochester who discovered there was better money in boats at that time.  The boats were built to his specs at the Chien Hua yard in Taiwan.  At that time those yards were turning out quality boats for very little cost including Grand Banks and the popular CHBs.  She is not a yacht, but a fairly humble, sturdy vessel.  Coda is 40' overall length and 13'3" in beam.  She draw 3'6" and weighs in at about 25000 lbs.

CODA has two Ford Lehman engines of 120 horses each.  Each has about 4000 hours on them and are running very well.  There is a generator made by Westerbeke that is relatively new at 450 hours.  This set of mechanicals is pretty mundane and standard which translates into fairly simple maintenance.  Coda cruises comfortably at about 8 knots while consuming about 4 gal per hour and has a range of about 400 miles.  She can store 180 gallons of water or enough for about a week. The galley is small and includes a new gas stove and cooktop as well as a Tundra fridge.  Two other fridges in the stern lazerette add considerable cruising capacity for freezing food. There is one head with an electric toilet, small tub and shower. The forward stateroom has a walkaround queen berth, lots of storage and great ventilation.  The guest cabin has been converted to a reading and desk, but there is still one berth.  There are two reverse cycle heat/AC units that are very welcome at times.
Wide decks under the flybridg
Garmin 4212 networked to lower helm 4208, radar and DSC
The electronics are mostly Garmin including two chartplottters, an ancient autopilot, radar and depth/temp sounder.  An ICOM 504 VHF rounds out the equipment.  The flybridge is huge owing to the Europa style "wings".  Foredeck includes a great windlass and plenty of room for relaxing.  The aft deck is our porch. The salon has a larger than normal settee, and lots of cabinet storage as well as two armchairs.  All in all she is comfy, proven, so far, reliable.
